Fine Fonts has been formed to tap the creative skills of Michael Harvey and Andy Benedek. Its launch in 2000 was marked by the introduction of an entirely original display face, Aesop. Based on a pen-drawn script, Aesop is characterised by a lively sense of movement and grace. Aesop is accompanied by an expert set containing numerous specially drawn ligatures.

The second typeface launched was
Songlines which is derived from a hand-drawn script by Michael Harvey's, illustrating a page in the "The Ever-born Landscape", a limited edition of Johannes Thurnau's poem published by the Burgert Handpresse, Berlin in 1992. The word Songlines occurs in the poem and is also the title of a famous book by Bruce Chatwin.

The third typeface launched is
Fine Gothic which was inspired by the blackletter fonts of the great 20th century German designer, Rudolf Koch. The characters, in this family of three weights, are free from the embellishments typical of historical forms, giving them a fresh, contemporary appearance.

Tisdall Script is based upon the brush-drawn script lettering of Hans Tisdall, who was the designer of many distinctive lettered book jackets for Jonathan Cape in the 1950s. Michael Harvey, also a designer of lettered book jackets, has long admired Tisdall's style and now, with the blessing of his widow, designed this typographic tribute.

Recently, a family of text faces (Mentor) and four display faces, Braff, Marceta, Balthasar & Zephyr have been added to the Fine Fonts collection.
